? New Local 38 Trust Fund Administrator Named
Maria Jacini, who has spent the past year as the Assistant Trust Fund Administrator for Local 38 has been named to the position of Trust Fund Administrator, Business Manager Larry Mazzola, Jr., announced earlier this month.
Jacini will be taking over from retiring Administrator Peter Machi, who has served since 2005.
“It has been a distinct honor working for Local 38 Trust Funds for the past 12 years,” said Machi, who will step down effective January 1. “I have had the pleasure of working with both Larry Mazzola, Sr., and Larry Mazzola, Jr., as well as with a great group of Local 38 officers. I can’t imagine a more dedicated group of officers and staff.
“I also want to acknowledge the Local 38 Trustees, both labor and management, for all the work that they have done and all we have accomplished during my tenure and for their dedication to our members,” Machi said.
“I am deeply grateful for the contributions Pete Machi has made to Local 38,” said Mazzola, Jr., in announcing the change. “He has done an outstanding job for the Trustees, the Local 38 officers, the staff and the membership of our union. It has been a great honor working with him, and we all wish him the best in his retirement.
“I also want to say how excited I am to work with Maria,” Mazzola, Jr., continued. “I have had a chance to work with her throughout her time as the Shipyard Trust Administrator and for the past year as the Assistant Trust Administrator for Local 38. I believe she will do an outstanding job for Local 38 and all our members.”
Prior to becoming Trust Fund Administrator Machi served as Local 38 Trust Fund counsel. A native San Franciscan, Machi attended Sacred Heart High School, Santa Clara University and San Francisco Law School. Machi has close ties with Local 38 through his lifelong friendship with Larry Mazzola, Sr., with whom he grew up.

Maria worked her way up the ranks over the years, working for several third-party administrators in the Bay Area.

Maria has worked with many different building trades clients throughout her career bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience with her to Local 38.
“I’m excited for this opportunity to work with Local 38,” Jacini says “I see this as the pinnacle of my career. Local 38 provides a multitude of generous benefits to their members, more than most union locals provide, and I’m excited for the challenge. I look forward to working with the Board of Trustees and the members on a daily basis.“
