Touring Santa Rosa Training Center Renovations
The Local 38 Training Department continues to expand and renovate the Santa Rosa Training Center, adding new classrooms, shop space and equipment.
“We have always been proud of our Santa Rosa school,” said Training Director Steve Mazzola. “But the North Bay market has changed dramatically. We have more students, a greater share of the work in the North Bay, and new technology and techniques.
“The expansion and updating going on in Santa Rosa means we can successfully address those changing needs,” he concluded.
PLUMBING BUILDING
The most dramatic addition to the Santa Rosa facility will be a new 2,600 square foot plumbing building located at the rear of the property.
The building will include a large open work area where apprentices can practice the installation and stripping of drain, waste and vent piping systems, an open air “classroom” for instructional sessions, and an “augmented soil area where students can practice installing underground piping systems.
Other additions to the campus include a new classroom dedicated to using various UA and industry trainers, a remodel of the school’s computer classroom, the addition of a conference room, a new instructors’ preparation area and the updating of campus-wide WiFi capabilities.
“We are seeing steady growth in the North Bay,” said Local 38 Business Manager Larry Mazzola, Jr., “both in our market share, and in the number of apprentices we have in Santa Rosa.
“Everyone in the Local 38 Training Department, with the help and support of Business Agent Frank Reardon, are doing great work making sure our school, as well as our union hall, is ready to meet the changes we are seeing in our trade,” he concluded.
