Local 38 Members Take To The Picketline To Protect Our Work
In January, Local 38 picketed a project at 1049 Golden Gate Ave in San Francisco. 104 Residential units are being constructed at Fredrick Douglas Garden Apartments, an affordable multi-family complex in the Western Addition neighborhood. The general contractor, Sandidge Nibbi, chose the non-union sub-contractor Lias Mechanical for the HVAC work. Our successful picket resulted in the remaining work being awarded to signatory contractor O’Brien Mechanical as well as future solar work on the project being awarded to a Local 38 signatory contractor. Our picket was honored by six other local unions. Pictured above on the picket line are (left to right): Business Agent John Corso, Violet Goldsmith, Jeremy Miller, Francisco Arrizano, Joe Mabutas, Derek Leiato, James Heryford, Mauricio Mabutas, and Carlton Lynch (not pictured Picket Captain Mark Cianci).
Local 38 made their presence known on a picket in December. Non-union City Front Plumbing was chosen by Centric General Contractor for work at Stonestown retailer Sports Basement. Our members showed up, rain or shine during the holiday season, to help protect our work. Pictured below on the picket line are (left to right): Joe Lewkowitz, Jeremy Miller, Kevin Ryan, Derek Leiato, James Heryford, Francisco Arrizano, Brett Pappas, Mike Brown, Mauricio Mabutas, Picket Captain Joe Mabutas, and Greg Gomes Jr. (not pictured Greg Hodges and Carlton Lynch).
