KONOCTI HARBOR RESORT AND SPA
TO RE-OPEN SUITES
TO EVACUEES OF THE VALLEY FIRE

U. A. LOCAL 38 PLUMBERS AND PIPEFITTERS UNION, WITH HEADQUARTERS IN SAN FRANCSICO, CALIFORNIA  HAVE ANNOUNCED THEY WILL TEMPORARILY REOPEN A PORTION OF THE KONOCTI HARBOR RESORT AND SPA AT 8727 SODA BAY ROAD, KELSEYVILLE, CALIFORNIA IN AN EFFORT TO ACCOMMODATE DISPLACED EVACUEES, WHO HAVE LOST THEIR HOMES DURING THE RECENT VALLEY FIRE.

LOCATED IN LAKE, NAPA AND SONOMA COUNTIES, THE VALLEY FIRE CONSUMED UPWARDS OF 75,000 ACRES OVER 118 SQUARE MILES, DESTROYED OVER 1000 STRUCTURES, KILLED THREE PEOPLE WHILE INJURING 4 FIREFIGHTERS, AND LEFT THOUSANDS HOMELESS.

THE KONOCTI HARBOR RESORT AND SPA, IS LOCATED IN LAKE COUNTY, ON THE SHORES OF CLEAR LAKE AND HAS BEEN OWNED AND OPERATED SINCE 1959 BY

U. A. LOCAL 38 PLUMBERS AND PIPEFITTERS UNION. 

THROUGHOUT THE YEARS, THE LAKEFRONT RESORT BECAME WELL KNOWN AS A POPULAR WATERFRONT RESORT FOR VACATIONS, CONVENTIONS, AND SPECIAL EVENTS.  DURING THAT TIME, THE ICONIC RESORT’S CONCERT PROGRAM ALSO GAINED NATIONAL ACCLAIM, WITH ARTISTS SUCH AS AEROSMITH, BROOKS & DUNN, KENNY CHESNEY, KID ROCK AND NICKELBACK REGULARLY GRACING THE STAGES OF THEIR MUSIC VENUES.

IN LATE 2009 THE KONOCTI HARBOR RESORT AND SPA CLOSED THEIR DOORS TO THE PUBLIC AND OWNERSHIP PLACED THE PROPERTY ON THE MARKET FOR SALE. 

AND NOW, THE KONOCTI HARBOR RESORT AND SPA IS TEMPORARILY BACK OPEN IN A LIMITED FASHION, PROVIDING HOUSING FOR LAKE COUNTY RESIDENTS WHO WERE DEVASTATED BY THE VALLEY FIRE AND TRAGICALLY LOST THEIR HOMES.

LOCAL 38 BUSINESS MANAGER LARRY MAZZOLA JR.  “LAKE COUNTY RESIDENTS PATRONIZED OUR RESORT, ATTENDED OUR SHOWS, AND BECAME SOME OF THE NEARLY 800 VALUABLE EMPLOYEES, WE WERE FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO HAVE WORK FOR US“ HE CONTINUED.  “ALTHOUGH WE REMAIN CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC AS WE CONTINUE OUR EFFORTS TO SELL THE RESORT, WE FELT A DESIRE AND OBLIGATION TO GIVE BACK TO LAKE COUNTY, AND HELP THOSE WHO SO DESPERATELY NEED ASSISTANCE DURING THIS TERRIBLE TRAGEDY”  HE SAID.  “THEREFORE, IT IS OUR HONOR AND PRVILEGE TO JOIN THE MASSIVE EMERGENCY EFFORTS CURRENTLY UNDERWAY BY ASSISTING LAKE COUNTY RESIDENTS DURING THEIR ROAD TO RECOVERY, AND TEMPORARILY RE-OPEN THE SUITES AT KONOCTI HARBOR RESORT AND SPA, DURING THE INITIAL PHASE OF THIS RELOCATION PROCESS. “ HE CONCLUDED.
